I dont know why but for some reason Fort Loudon Electric Cooperative can't seem to keep the lights on. Our power has gone off twice in 3 days. The first time was over 2 hours. The 2nd time the power actually came on then back off very quickly at least 6 or 7 times before it finally shut off for good. Man that's really good for all the electronics!

In fact the power is off as i type this so who knows how long this time will last. I swear it's like i live in California with all the blackouts fort loudon puts us through. I guess im going to have to invest in some solar and battery back up because i sure can't rely on fort loudon electric coop to keep the power flowing. Don't even get me started on their customer service or lack thereof. Let's just say it leaves a lot to be desired?

The worst light company ever. They are outrageous and when the power goes out you cant report it because you cant get ahold of them. There are hidden fees on your bill that you only will see if you pay the bill online but if the bill is mailed to you it is on it. The employees are rude and disrespectful.

Our power goes out around 8-10 times a year. That is not counting the little 5 second blips of power lose we get that resets literally everything in the house. Just got power back on after 15 hours of no power.an 18-wheeler took out a power pole and they couldn't repair it until the truck was removed. I understand that isn't their fault, but there was absolutely no communication from anyone about what was going on and when we might get power.

Their Facebook page didn't even mention it and I could find no other social media or website updates regarding the problem. 740+ homes had no power for 15 hours and nobody had a freaking clue as to why or when it may be back on. A lot of people work from home nowadays and need to have any idea of how to plan for things like this.regarding when power might be back on

After over a year of having service with Fort Loudoun Electric Cooperative, the usage has dramatically increased. In an attempt to figure out daily usage and handle energy drains, I have called a few times to inquire what certain days' usages were. Each time I've called, I'm met with immediate defensiveness. I've had employees tell me what they set their home thermostats to and claim that our's was set too high.

Every home is different and we are well aware our energy efficiency is not as good as other homes and gladly pay for the difference. This is something we are working on. I do not appreciate the interrupting from the employees nor the "covering of tracks" they tend to spout when simply inquiring. When you setup service in their service areas, I highly recommend that you get a cellphone based app electric meter that connects into your system to ensure that the readings are correct.

For days that we were not even home and 3 total energy sources were running- taking into consideration the temperature fluctuations- there is something amiss. Do not rely upon getting answers from this company, they do not have your best interest at heart. I've never felt so disrespected by a company when I've asked for information to help us lower our usage.

Tuesday: passed electrical inspection and now ready for FLEC to come connect power to new home construction. Physically went to FLEC to pay the 700$ fee and alert them of the coming inspection report. Told by the receptionist to call her the next afternoon to find out about scheduling. Wednesday: get a call from the FLEC engineer saying that they can't do the job until the fee is paid! Had to pull out my receipt and explain the fee was paid the day before. Told it would be processed the next day. Thursday: We call again to find out what is going on and are told that the engineer already picked up the daily paperwork and ours wasn't in the system until just then and he would get it tomorrow. Receptionist/office personnel couldn't explain why there was a delay from Tuesday to Thursday to get the job into their "system" and couldn't explain the lack of communication or miscommunication from one office to another.

Then she said the engineer would be out to look at the job and schedule the work 7-10 days out! I tried to explain that the engineer already came out during the installation of the temp pole and now it was simply time to connect power to the house but that seemed to not go along with the standard answer of "the engineer will be out to look at the job before scheduling." For the prices we've had to pay you'd think the service could be more organized and timely.

Unfortunately citizens don't have options in terms of utilities. Too bad there couldn't be several to chose from, giving citizens choices on quality service and best price. Update: Tuesday( a week later) engineer comes to our home and looks at the sticker the state inspector left on the box to indicate a passed inspection and then gives his ok which seems redundant since the inspector filed the official report.

He says we should have power today or tomorrow. That was it! Later that afternoon a crew (sub contractors) arrives to dig the trench and install the line to the transformer. They say FLEC will be a day or two behind them. Wednesday: Another subcontractor arrives to mark the lines with spray paint. When I ask what he's talking about, I discover he plans to mark the lines where the crew is going to dig. Only they've already dug and installed the line! He spray paints the ground anyway. Maybe tomorrow we'll have electricity.

This utility company consistently sends me my bill AFTER it is past due and then tacks on late fees and threatens to disconnect. I got a phone call today, July 17th saying my utilities were getting cut off and have still never received my last bill. The bill does not ever fall on the same day each month and the charges are never consistent. The office staff are rude.

I have found the employees extremely helpful and efficient. This is a busy office with many issues to solve throughout the day. My approach to dealing with a business is to treat others the way I would want to be treated and have always had a good experience with this office. Please remember this Electric Company has many miles of rural roads with aged trees along the power routes. Rough storms can turn these areas into potentially down trees on many back roads. It's not an easy profession to be in especially during the winter months.

I have never, in the dozens of States I have lived in, had so many power outages and fluctuations in my service. I would truly rather produce my own power, than have to rely on a company that resets my alarm on a nearly daily basis. My advice. Buy a generator. At least not waking up on time will be your own fault for not putting gas in your generator.
