I paid 28,600.00 for my water furnace 4years ago. Last weekend a circuit board malfunctioned and needed replaced. It was early saturday morning and down to 8degrees that night. All parts and labor were covered for 10 years by water furnace. Because it was a weekend and I live 25-30 minutes away, they charged me emergency rates to show up which was 400.00.

They had to come back out a few days later to put the new circuit board in and then charged another 168.00 service charge. So, I paid almost 600.00 to repair my water furnace that is warrantied and only 4 years old. To say I am disappointed in my purchase is an understatement. I called after to complain afterwards and nothing was done to rectify the Situation.

My advice is call someone local and well reviewed on google. You shouldnt have to shell out 600.00 everytime a new warrantied furnace breaks. Back up your expensive products porter and heckman!

I was always happy with Porter and Heckman. However, they are under new ownership and I am no longer using them. They replaced the motherboard on my geothermal unit. Shortly thereafter, I had an error code on my furnace. They came back out and found that the water loop connections were loose and were leaking (from the previous repair), charged me over $100 to tighten the connections that were left loose from their own employee. But, it gets worse, the error codes kept coming back, so I finally called another company to come fix it and they discovered that the new motherboard had not even been set-up/programmed to my system, so it was running very inefficiently and sometimes not running at all.

The new company adjusted the settings on the motherboard and it has been working perfectly ever since. Their employees clearly are not knowledgeable about geothermal, and their lack of expertise cost me hundreds of dollars.

Charges double the price of other local companies. Guy came out to check what was going on with our furnace and charged us $450 did not do anything. Had to go with another company who diagnosed the problem in about 10 minutes and replaced the fuse.

Remarkable the level of outright cheating a customer. 190.00 for a part that is $8.00 from the manufacturer! Also it was the wrong part that caused the furnace to shut on off repeatedly! New owners are the problem.

Glad you finally closed your doors. Too bad I wasn't informed about the selling of your company while you took $20,000 from me in October 2017 for a geo thermal replacement and install that has not worked correctly from day one and could not fix it. Now I am left to figure out how to get another company to fix my brand new furnace. Thank you so much Ted Carpenter for being a shady crook.

Had a terrible experience. They tried telling us our furnace was bad and we needed a new one. The guy was beating on our furnace with a pair of pliers trying to make it look like the furnace was junk. Glad my husband knows a thing or two about basic heating. He told the guy to get out of house! We called Porter and Heckman and told them what happened so they sent a new guy out.

He said the furnace was fine and we just needed a minor part like a seal or something. They didn't even discount us or anything for the horrible experience and being lied to by one of their techs! Lucky I wasn't a little old lady or single mom that they could've taken advantage of. Porter and Heckman still has the the idiot tech on staff. Hope no one gets him in there house and are dooped into buying a new furnace for no reason. We're done with this company esp after talking with friends who had a fiasco with a heating company and said the company was Porter and Heckman! Do not call them!

We wouldn't go anywhere else! We have complete confidence that they know exactly what they are doing. They get it done right the first time and within a reasonable time frame. And here's the added bonus.they clean up after themselves! We love our Geothermal heating system. Thanks to everyone at Porter and Heckman.

I thought these guys did a great job, unlike the previous reviewer, I did not have to pull my own permit, they did everything and it's been inspected and stickered. Have been a customer for 2 years now and have absolutely no complaints. Would highly recommend to anyone.

From what i can tell they have no qualifying master and you need that in Michigan to hold a contractors license. You can't pull permits without a contractors license. My advice is ask these guys for there credentials before you hire them. Permits need to be pulled to protect home owners. Never pull a home owner permit for one of these generator contractors or any other contractor. If your house burns down you have no recourse! Beware if any body asks you to pull your own permit.
