Shively Electric was founded in 1974 as a one-man, one truck operation by Richard Shively, of Franklin County. The company was incorporated in 1977, and grew to seven employees by 1984. Now, 45 years later, Shively Electric is still a locally owned company, employing over 60 people, with a fleet of trucks and equipment, and offices in Rocky Mount, Roanoke, Martinsville and soon-to-be Christiansburg to serve customer needs.

Paid for someone to come look at the electricity in my house since moving in I said my power doesn't seem right. They sent someone out that literally just looked at my breaker box and told me "it looks right " and tell me my one wire outside was bad which I already knew and didn't check anything inside the actually house. Paid for an hour when the guy was here maybe 20mins and a service fee and now the power upstairs keeps going on and off when you try to plug/unplug my TV and it blew the panel. Once again I have no idea what's wrong my electricity and they want to charge me again to have someone come look at it. Don't waste your money!

Very impressed with Shively Electric. I would recommend to anyone. The electricians were very clean, well dressed, polite, and helped with all of my electrical needs. I live in the middle of nowhere and they were very prompt and took the time to make sure they could find our house. They will definitely get my future business.

Hired for a job which was never completed. Technician said he would return the following day and never showed up or called. Several weeks and multiple phone calls later, I was finally able to speak with someone who was not helpful in the least. I am guessing that when my home job turned out to be less involved (and thus less expensive) they lost interest? Not sure, but overall I am left with a picture of a very unprofessional and immature staff. Would not recommend and if I could give zero stars, I would.

I would definitely recommend Shively Electric. We have used them in the past and again today. They did several things for us. They are consistently knowledgeable, professional, and courteous. We feel their prices are fair and their work gives us peace of mind!

We recently had a hot tub installed and will get a pool in the future. We were very happy with the service we received from Shively's. The team was very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. From the estimate to the installation, everything went smoothly. If you are looking for electrical needs, don't look any further. You will not be disappointed reaching out to them. When our community well collapsed and we scrambled to get a private well installed, we needed additional work done to get electrical service for the pump over to the part of our home where the service entered our home. Originally they were not going be able to get us worked in for couple weeks, but once they understood the gravity of our situation they adjusted their schedule, put two guys on the job and got it done in one day. The guys on the job were very courteous young men and they did a fantastic job cleaning up after themselves.

They've done three jobs over the last six months for me and I would use them again. Lining up scheduling for an estimate normally takes a few days and they've scheduled out for the work a couple weeks in advance each time. I've had two different crews come out and both were professional and took the time to ensure that the installations ended up neat and clean.

I started with a smaller job for a few new circuits, then had a whole house generator put it, and just finished getting a porch heater and few ceiling fans put in. I've been very happy with the quality of the work and the ease of working with the company.

Shively recently installed an outlet for our electric vehicle. Their price was extremely reasonable compared to other estimates we received. They arrived promptly on installation day, worked efficiently and did a beautiful job on the outlet. We are very pleased. Give them a call!

We had Shively Electric do the electrical work for our pavilion. They were very professional and knowledgeable. They arrived on time, the wiring looks great, and they cleaned up after they were finished. Would definitely recommend and use them again.

I was extremely pleased with the service from Shively. I needed them to add 400 amp service to our home for a pool install happening. I first met with Ryan Smith he was very helpful in explaining the options I had for the service. He sent me my quotes in an email by the next day. Cody and Daryll were the men installing the equip they. professional, kind, and patient of my lack of understanding of the process.

They were always prompt and let me know if or when they had to leave and when they would be back. I can not say enough wonderful things about this company and especially about Ryan, Cody and Darrell. They made this process a very easy one. I highly recommend this company for any electrical work needed.

Stopped by their headquarters twice to see if they could help our 501c3 charity out with a simple problem. The first time I spoke to an office person who said they would relay the message and have the guy give me a call. 10 days later I stopped back by and was told the gentleman was on the phone and would be out in a few minutes. Many minutes passed and the office person came out and told me the guy had to take supplies to a jobsite and had already left.

I had mentioned the job in the first visit and ask for a donation, but I also said we were willing to pay. With no reply in three weeks and the guy not taking 2 minutes to speak to a live customer face to face on my second visit speaks volumes about the character of certain employees and the company itself. It is sad "Customer Service" has been lost.

I called on a Friday to request information on kitchen under cabinet lighting. Was told a person would call me that day. On Tuesday afternoon the person finally called. I told him not to bother after waiting that long.

Shively worked on a project for our business that took one business day to complete. The work they did was sub-par to "okay." They did not clean up after themselves and used a rather expensive metal case on which to set their tools and hardware. The cover for the breaker panel that they were working out of was not reinstalled correctly and does not sit flush with the wall.

Two gentlemen showed up to do the work. The older guy was really polite, but the younger of the two couldn't be bothered to take the dip out of his mouth before speaking with us nor did he seem bothered by the appearance of his dip bottle sticking out of his pants while he worked. I am not at all opposed to people dipping, smoking, drinking, or using drugs (it's their call, not mine), but using them on the job is wildly unprofessional. Problem with multi-switch light switch. I don't work on electric stuff except changing a light bulb because of past experience. They showed up on time, removed their shoes so there was no tracking in the house. Polite and knowledgeable. Finished the work and left. Everything working properly as I expected. Will definitely call again is I need service. Thanks.

Called with a problem with a breaker in our breaker box. They sent someone out right away and fixed the problem. Great service. Haven't got the bill yet, but from what I was quoted over the phone, I'm sure it'll be fair.
